The best browser feature …

… I’ve seen in quite a while.

Those that follow me socially know that I play Browser Bingo on my computer. It’s how I learn and appreciate the efforts that developers have put into their work.

Recently, the Brave browser gave me the nicest new feature I’ve seen in quite a long time.

You know those times when you land on a website and you’re asked to allow cookies to be set or, even worse, gives you the option to go through and pick and choose the ones you’ll accept?

Those days are gone now.

You can read about it here.

I truly appreciate this especially first thing in the morning when my coffee and I are getting up to date on what’s happening in the world. That intrusive banner about accepting cookies can take up a little bit of real estate or a lot of real estate on the screen pops up so often these days. Yes, you can just click the button and it goes away and you have the cookies planted.

The new feature in Brave just hides or totally ignores the popup. You get right to the good stuff. Brave, by default, blocks third-party cookies and blocks much of the rest already. And, I have the Cookie AutoDelete extension installed to clear things when I leave the site. It took a bit of time to decide which sites to whitelist because cookies can be a good thing to keep you logged in to a website if you so desire.

But, getting rid of those banners that pop up when I land on a website are a godsend.

Now, if I could offer a suggestion to the Brave developers (and I have), I’d next like to get rid of those popups that appear when the website determines that you’re leaving. How many times have we seen the messages “Wait, before you go”
