GOAT

This is something I’m seeing more and more around here to advertise various products and actually locations. Greatest Of All Time

Of course, that calls for a Bruce song…

As regular readers know, I’m always on the look out for new additions to my Ontario Edubloggers collection.

Like most people, when I get a new follower or friend request, I’ll do my best to verify that they’re legitimate. It’s sad that you have to do that but such is life in 2020. The best way, for me, is to check their profile and check out any links included there.

Recently, I saw a profile that included the words “changing the world one blog post at a time”. Wow, that’s someone that I’d want to follow and, if they’re from Ontario, I want to add to my collection.

Imagine my disappointment when I checked the blog out and it just abruptly ended seven years ago. This wasn’t going to be quite the GOAT that I had hoped to find.

I get it. Some people start blogging with a fervour but can lose it. Or move on to something else. I always thought that it would be nice to have a final post indicating that you’re closing things down, suspending them, or some other reason. Abandonment just doesn’t seem right.

I think it’s a reminder to us all to check out our profiles and make sure that they’re saying something that’s true, verifiable, and relatively recent. I don’t think that it destroys the cause if you want to keep the blog to just say “Formerly blogged at …”.

It was a reminder for me to check out my profiles to see if they’re relatively true and recent.

I’ve always felt bad that I was not able to post a final post on the blog I kept on a Microsoft site. They locked me out before I knew it was my last day. The blog is still there but looks abandoned when it really has just moved.
