Here’s a summary of some of the things I learned and published this week.

- It’s a good propaganda move but the reality is that the only time you’ll get a politician into a classroom is to get their picture taken. Kids are in best behaviour and the event lasts 10 minutes. There’s not a chance that a Minister of Education would spend a whole day there.
- This is an informational and actually quite funny about the way that teenagers are written into books. It extends to television and the movies too.
- So, Microsoft wants to be your anti-virus everywhere. Currently, it’s free; can they resist the urge to start charging?
- Tim Horton’s meets COVID-19. They’re planning to give away reusable cups on March 10 but they’ve decided to stop filling reusables now because of the virus. Another hit for Tim’s.
- This is interesting. We’ve talked about a new face for the Canadian $5 bill. But, why not have more than one face? So many great Canadians to celebrate.
- Mathematics can be like magic in the hands of the right person. Could that be you? Check out this trick.
- There are files on your computer that should be encrypted just because. Here’s how to do it in Windows 10.
- I could have told you this. Computer Science isn’t a mathematics discipline; it’s one of communications.
- If those darned license plates had been created properly and tested before making them available to the public, maybe the Premier wouldn’t have to get angry when asked about them. Then, he and the Minister could continue to complain about the Liberal plates. Egg on face.
- The Woz has always liked attention. This article indicates that he thinks he might be “patient zero” for COVID-19.
- Pretty soon, we’ll have fond remembrances of Google’s hamburger menu and how the really cool presenters used to say “hamburger” a dozen times during presentations.
- This move only makes sense. I feel sorry for the students who are involved and how they worked to come up with the funds for the trip.
- I’ll bet that some of you are doing this right now. It just takes a principal or superintendent that wants to stamp something on their school.
- Some day, someone is going to want to pay me money to take apart something as expensive as the Samsung Galaxy S20 and I’ll enjoy it. Actually, I’d do it for free as long as I got to keep the phone afterwards.
- The longest, friendliest border in the world has taken some hits the past three years. Now it hits a software company.
- Here is a great shot on the Pythagorean theorem. I played way too long with this. Love it!

Technology Troubleshooting
My Chromebook saga continues!
There was another update this week but the problem persists although not as bad as it was. Previously, if I woke the computer from sleep, it would go automatically into tablet mode.
Now, it seems to remember the previous application that I used.
If it was tablet, then it will switch to tablet. If computer, then computer…at least for a little while and then it switches back to tablet mode.
Exasperating.
