Road trip!

The end of the school year and summer vacation are inching closer. Where will you go? Here’s an option to go virtually.

Teachers can register their classes to be involved with this exciting project from the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, Parks Canada, and Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants. What an interesting concept and certainly a trip across our magnificent country. How many of your students have been to these locations already? Where are they inspired to go some day?

The goal obviously is to register and take part in the journey.

I couldn’t help but think of a couple of additional activities for the classroom.

First, create your itinerary if you’d be lucky enough to dry or fly to the locations. Where will you stay? How long does it take to get from one point to the other? What clothes do you need to pack? Where will your stay?

Secondly, if you’re not able to make the drive, what do you have in your own community that would make for an interesting Field Trip or Virtual Field Trip. Never has access to resources and promotional media been so accessible.

Back to the original trip, there is such a nice, broad collection of various topics to go with the locations. It’s worth researching.
