My Week Ending 2022-02-06

Here’s a summary of some of the things I learned and published this week.

Readings

You can follow my daily readings as they happen here.  Below are a selected few, with commentary, from the past week. They’re posted to the blog daily under the title OTR Links.

Sunday

  • Some great ideas about how to play Wordle – they missed out on dumb luck
  • Howard Hesseman passes. Just a spectacular addition to WKRP in Cincinnati. My favourite scene was at the very first when the station changed format

Monday

  • I totally understand the importance of deleting YouTube history; it does get locked into a certain selection of videos
  • I never thought that the PC would be over and done with never mind the COVID but I do know that apostrophes should never pluralize anything

Tuesday

  • Before this past week, I honestly didn’t know who Joe Rogan was or much cared – now I certainly have a negative opinion
  • I’m not a fan of Emojis so I wonder if Windows 11 having 3D ones will change my mind

Wednesday

  • Even Whoopie Goldberg can’t get away with saying anything that she wants. People that pay the bills take action
  • A recording of the Wiarton Willie show and prediction

Thursday

  • The GoFundMe account for the truck drivers has been suspended and there are all kinds of reasons why
  • How does Windows Defender stack up against the other major players?

Friday

Saturday

  • A list of cool Google searches that you can do without typing
  • This makes so much sense. We have one restaurant in town that won’t answer the phone but takes your orders online. They text you 10 minutes before it’s ready and then the moment that it’s ready for pickup

Technology Troubleshooting

I can’t believe that I’m say thing but I’m really starting to like Microsoft Edge as a browser for Windows 11. It seems to be a very good actor and everything that I want it to do seems to be done.

Of course, there’s just one thing…

I have a number of extensions plugged into it and I keep them visible in the address bar. There’s one nagging thing. Not a game changer but a nagger.

The icons for each of the extensions seem to take up a great deal of space. I’d love to be able to put them on a diet so that I can get more room in the address bar.

Working on it. A search of the Microsoft discussion area reveals that I’m not the only one who would like to squeeze them together a bit.

Video of the Week

I’d love to see these on Via Rail!

Photo of the Week

I just had to take a picture of those snow ball/puffs on the branches while out dog walking.

May be an image of sky, nature, snow and tree

Thanks for reading.

Please join me daily for something new and, hopefully, interesting for you. I honestly and truthfully appreciate your few moments reading my thoughts. Time willing, this summary appears every Sunday afternoon.

Be safe.
