My Week Ending 2021-04-11

Here’s a summary of some of the things I learned and published this week.

Readings

You can follow my daily readings as they happen here.  Below are a selected few, with commentary, from the past week.

Sunday

  • More interesting features for Windows 10 – I’ve given then a shot – interesting but not life changing
  • I guess that it makes sense that Google “Hey Google” moves even more into our lives and especially if you’re buying Fiat

Monday

  • Until this story, I’d never heard of Jackie Ormes the first Black Woman Cartoonist
  • I love reading stories about fabulous architecture from the past – in this case, it’s from Toronto

Tuesday

  • The concept of a VPN is intriguing but there are pros and cons that you need to be aware of
  • Damn hackers are back at it again. Here’s how to see if your information was grabbed from Facebook

Wednesday

  • LibreOffice is still the office suite of choice for me on my computers; admittedly the interface is retro
  • Maybe we’ve become so frustrated with being locked down at home that the idea of educational toys for teaching math are appealing to more

Thursday

  • These cartoons about parenting will bring out a bunch of emotions for many, I suspect
  • An absolutely fabulous example of beading for story telling or just as medicine for these times

Friday

  • This time around, every store is being affected by restrictions including the big box stores
  • And diapers and school supplies are considered non-essential although schools and day care centres remain open

Saturday

  • Well, that was certainly a short run as Director of Education
  • Good news if you live in France and are under 55 and wanting to get the vaccine

Technology Troubleshooting

A blast from the frustrating past.

It seriously took 30 minutes for me to shut down and reboot my wife’s MacBook Pro.

It took 5 minutes to order a Chromebook.

Video of the Week

Priceless

Only a teacher would recognize that this is not a landing spot for aliens.

Thanks for reading.

Please join me daily for something new and, hopefully, interesting for you. I honestly and truthfully appreciate your few moments reading my thoughts. Time willing, this summary appears every Sunday afternoon.

Be safe.
