Clearing the funk

I’ll admit; I’m in a bit of funk this morning. Maybe I shouldn’t blog while feeling this way. I don’t know.

I’ve been thinking about yesterday’s blog post and I guess that’s the genesis of all this. I am so appreciative of those who reached out and shared some thoughts with me.

I started out this morning as per normal doing some reading. I seemed to be finding so many depressing stories in my news feed. Even Australia let me down. Usually, there is good news from there; they seem to have a better grip on COVID than the rest of us. The big news was something completely different.

My daughter needs to go into Windsor to pick up an item that wasn’t able to be delivered. (It’s an air fryer – got any good recipes?) We’ll be headed into the city on the first day of being declared in the red. With my luck, I’ll run into a group of anti-maskers.

Even the dog wasn’t immune to things. We started out in the cool which turned to rain which turned into freezing rain which turned into almost snow by the time we got home. We were both soaked and cold.

So, it wasn’t a great start to the day.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow.

  1. Good morning Doug!

The overarching impacts and effects of COVID can start weigh down after a while. Throw in some less than favourable weather and some folks with challenging viewpoints and some kind of counterbalance is required. A headline that I read online this morning suggested that folks are putting up their Christmas lights earlier this year, and it had me looking up LED lights on the Canadian tire website. Years ago when I was away at school, I put up six or seven strings of multicoloured lights on my single window (I just taped them to the inside of the glass), and I’m contemplating doing the same again.

  2. Sorry to hear you are in a “low”. Losing a friend is tough, funerals take a lot out of us, and dreary weather on top doesn’t help. You are allowed to feel and blog in a funk, imo! I was so happy to see some sunshine yesterday and again today, even though much colder. It is easy to worry and get dragged down with bad news and reports. Do try to keep a perspective, and I will keep trying to do so too! We are doing the things that should keep us safe and well. Hope you find some comforts and simple pleasures to lift your spirits soon.

  3. I’ve had days like that. Rain often seems to be a factor for me. I need my sunshine. I hope your day gets better.
