Just not today

I actually got excited when I read about this new app.

This Free ‘Shazam for Nature’ App Can Identify Plants and Animals in Photos

It’s called Seek and the story calls it the Shazam for Nature.  Point it at a plant or animal and find out what it is.  Why did this excite me?

You see, in town, we have the Hostas Gardens.  There are all kinds of Hostas plants there and someone has the task of sticking an identifying sign in front of each so that you know which plant is which.  That’s got to be a valuable skill.

Now, I wouldn’t know one from the other.  My mother-in-law, on the other hand, would probably name them all without issue.

For the past couple of years, there has been nothing in front of the Holy Mouse Ears sign.

As I said, I wouldn’t know the difference between a Holy Mouse Ears and a Katie Q.  Heck, I wouldn’t even know if these are truly things!

This year, though, Holy Mouse Ears seems to have taken off with a vengeance.  My wife and I swear that it’s in a new location.  The dog is no help; he doesn’t seem to care where he … well, you know.

I had every intention of downloading the application and putting it to the test.  Sadly, it’s available only for iOS at this time.  But, my friend Edge had a suggestion.

This would have been a great test.  But, just not today.
