It’s about time

After having been on a roll and getting blogging things right around here, I messed up yesterday with my blog post.

Normally, I don’t check it first thing because things have been going so well.

My consciences haven’t been complaining about spelling and grammar and things have gone on swimmingly.

I do check that all is right and look for the possibilities of comments after the morning walk with the dog.

And, it was right in front of the Fire Hall during our morning walk when I got this private message from Aviva Dunsiger.  It was to the effect “Your post didn’t show up this morning.”  (or words to that effect; it was private so I won’t copy it. )

I gave a quick reply that I’d look at it when I got home.  After 30 steps later, I realized I didn’t have to wait; I could do everything in the WordPress app on my phone.  One tap and the blogging life is right again.

Now, if you’re a regular reader, you know that I schedule posts for 5:00 am.  It’s so simple and only takes three keystrokes and one mouse click:

  • 5
  • 00
  • am (toggles am/pm)

It actually takes fewer than that if I blog in the morning like normal since the default is the actual time.  However, I blogged yesterday evening.  i.e. in the pm

So, you know how the story ends with this creature of habit.  My apologies to everyone.

I think I’ve found a way to reduce the chances of this happening again by one mouse click.  After the rest of the walk with Jaimie wondering why I was kicking at stones and talking to myself, I felt sure there had to be a way to switch to a 24 hour clock.  Surely, even I couldn’t confuse 05:00 with 17:00.

And there was. Now, when I schedule a post, it looks like this.

Any bets on when I find a new way to mess up?  Warning – there are all kinds of cool looking options that are time related!
