Stumbling into a search engine

Sometimes, you just fall into a new discovery.

Such was what happened to me over the weekend.

I upgraded my copy of the Vivaldi Browser, taking it to version 1.9.  If you haven’t taken a look at Vivaldi, and you’re in search of a browser that does it all, it’s certainly worth the download to check out.  Make sure that you take a look at the preferences since you can tinker and modify with just about everything in this Chromium based browser.

I remember, as I watched the download crawl across my screen, wondering what more they can add to the configuration options.

But, the big news was the inclusion of the Ecosia search engine as an option for your default search.  Quite frankly, I hadn’t heard of Ecosia before so began to poke around.  It has an interesting hook; part of the money that it makes goes to reforestration projects.

It’s an interesting concept.  How does it do as a search enging.

I always find it interesting to look at the results from the various search engine available.  I feel badly that it took this long to discover Ecosia; according to the info in their about page, they’ve been around for a while.

I have one more option to add to the list of search engines.  In these days of social, perhaps it makes sense to support a tool that does social good.
