What a world of wisdom!  I probably could go on and on with football quotes if I tried!

Like many people, I’m frustrated with the college football bowls this year.  They’re boring and one-sided.  Last night started the same way with the Alamo Bowl.  Everyone watches a bit of any Oregon game just for the fashion show and exciting playing, I suspect.  You don’t necessarily have to like football or the University of Oregon to appreciate it.

But, football is football.  I’m there to watch the game.  Maybe this one will be different.  It didn’t look promising with TCU’s quarterback out. 

Yet, who could miss the opportunity to watch Ducks take on Horned Frogs.  I always search for images of a Horned Frog when I watch a TCU game.  The game started out like so many games this year.  By half-time, Oregon was up by 31 points.  TCU showed little life at the start of the third quarter so I did what I suspect many people did.  I changed the channel and watched something else.

I woke this morning and wondered if Oregon had hit 100 points.

Of course, this is Canada; I had to scroll way down to get past the hockey stories.

Say what?  I had given up at half time.  That’s when those quotes above started to flow through my mind.

All of this is appropriate for today, being the second half of the school year.

A question – how many students have you given up on, based upon their performance in the first half? 

Is it possible that they’ve fallen so far behind that they’ll never catch up?  On the other side, how many have done so well, they’re just going to coast for the rest of the year?

Maybe the proper motivation lies in the demonstration by the Horned Frogs.
