If you’re a teacher, you’ve got to read and share the article “Teachers and lecturers ‘do most unpaid overtime“. Those of us from the profession know this, but it’s nice to have research to support our rants and ramblings! According to the report, teachers put in an extra 12 hours a week. For me, this quote from the article says it all.
“This commitment is all the more admirable considering the insulting real-terms pay cuts their employers continue to offer them”, she added, calling for employers to “recognise the hard work their staff do, reward them fairly and sort out their workloads”.
Always looking for content for a blog post, I thought that I would start a list that shows how those 12 hours might be spent. I know that I’m not going to hit them all so add yours in a comment at the bottom.
As I type this list, it just reinforces the impact that teachers have on student lives and contribution to a healthy community…
