Are you paying attention?

Change, change, change.

Look around and you’ll see people hanging on to traditions in education.

Why change?  What goes around comes around.  How many times have you heard that?  Or, I’ll just wait this one out and it will go away.

If that’s the case, you need to look at, no – you need to read this, no – you need to understand this.

After 244 Years, Encyclopaedia Britannica Stops the Presses

In education, there is nothing more sacred than the encyclopedia.  Can you even remember a library that doesn’t have this reference strategically positioned?

You need to pay attention.  If this can go away, what’s next?  Are you ready?

Britannica gets it.  Read their position.

  1. Spot on, Doug. The World Book Encyclopedia rep couldn’t understand two years ago why I was not interested in the hard copy edition. Seems like the Encyclopedia companies might be catching up. Now, to get them to realise that inflated costs of their online product need some review…

  2. It’s not a pleasant time to be in the publishing industry at any level. Will it take a big publisher like Britannica to have problems before a wakeup call is heard?

  3. Britannica has been known for its printed and published books, and then all of a sudden they will stop the process. Some may accept it but I believe not all.
