This has been the summer of Web 2.0 for me. I’ve put a concerted effort into learning all that I can and expand my Personal Learning Network.
I have spent considerable time developing one of my Wikis and created a course for the summer for North American teachers who get July/August holidays called “8 Weeks to Web 2.0“. It’s hard to assess success but I put a counter on the first of the pages and had a number over a thousand which I’m very happy with..
I took a course online through the folks at PBWiki. It was extremely interesting and took us to new depths of this resource along with incorporating other Web 2.0 tools into our Wikis. As a result, I’m now a:

During the course, I also learned that another Greater Essex County educator was taking the same course. One of our activities was to invite a collaborator to out wiki. Out of the blue, I received an invite and got a chance to take a look at the Benson Library Wiki before it went live. More about the Benson Library in the “What’s New?” section.
I have been doing my best to blog daily at Doug…Off the Record. It’s been a great experience and I had it integrated nicely with Delicious until the upgrade. By posting latest resources from Delicious, it doubled my productivity to two posts most days. I’m now using a Firefox plugin called the Delicious Blog Rescue Tool to do the task for me. It doesn’t get them all, but does a pretty fair job.
I would be lost without my Delicious account. I find so much and want to keep track of it and Delicious has been awesome for that purpose.
And, of course, there’s Twitter. This has opened a whole new dimension in terms of building a Personal Learning Network. There’s so much that flies by in whatever Twitter client I happen to be using at the time that reinforces the notion of constant learning and collaboration. I use Twhirl, Spaz, Tweetdeck, and Twitterberry depending upon my mood and location.
These are pretty much the standards of what I use that would be classified as Web 2.0 tools but certainly not all. There is so much functionality that needs to be called upon when necessary. Check out what I’ve tagged as Web 2.0 in Delicious. There are 406 entries as I type this.
I’m very interested in hearing others’ experiences.
All the best to all readers for the new school year.
