What are you saying?

How many times do you look at a Twitter entry and wonder to yourself ” I wish I knew what she/he was talking about”?

That is the shortcoming of a message that’s limited to 140 characters. After all, the original premise was to move texting ability to an online service. We’ve just made it so much richer and of value with our development of professional learning networks. Follow the right people and you have a network of researchers and colleagues that makes the experience so valuable.

Then, you get a comment like “LOL, you’re right”.

About what?

What’s the context? Have you ever spent some time backtracking to try and figure out what the gist of the conversation was? Have you ever walked into the middle of a conversation and have no idea what’s going on but really wish you did?

Louis Gray, in a post today puts it into perspective. This should be compulsory reading for anyone new to social networking. With some of the tips that are contained in this post, we all can become better communicators.

I’m really going to try to take his comments to heart and become better at my own online communication.
